Watches with plastic glass (hesalite) appear in cheaper, but also more expensive models. Why? We will try to explain. Plastic glass has perfect properties in light refraction and generally minimal glare from the glass. In short, the dial is probably best seen through it. The weakness is a very high probability of scratches if you are not careful (greater than with mineral glass). However, the advantage of hesalite is its low price (replacement) and also the ability to polish minor scratches. So, with a little effort, you can keep your glass as new for a long time (repolish it). The last advantage is its fidelity to its time, which is suitable for reissues of older watches that had plastic glasses.
Some manufacturers also use a special protective layer on the plastic glass that protects it against scratches (for example, Junghans and its Sicralan).
