The German Junghans 1972 Chronoscope Sports Edition 2026 Limited Edition 41/4558.00 revives the style of the 1970s combined with modern technology. In the watch, we can find a reference to 1972, when Junghans was the official timekeeper of the Summer Olympics in Munich. This limited edition of just 200 pieces refers to Junghans' rich history as a timekeeper for many sporting events.
The Junghans 1972 Chronoscope Sports Edition 2026 Limited Edition 41/4558.00 is equipped with a battery-powered J645.43 movement, which is based on the Japanese variant of the Seiko VK63A. With the stopwatch, you can clearly measure the time for 60 minutes. The sub-dial at the 3 position serves as a 24-hour time display. The date indicator can be found between 4 and 5 o'clock. The dial of the watch is protected by a sapphire crystal, which is maximally scratch-resistant. The anti-reflective coating ensures excellent cleanliness even in the harsh sunlight. The 43.3 mm case is made of stainless steel. The water resistance is 100 meters (10 ATM), so the watch can also handle contact with water, such as swimming.
This limited edition of just 200 pieces is a reference to Junghans' rich history as a sports performance timekeeper. As early as about 100 years ago, Junghans was already producing stopwatches for timekeeping in sports, and subsequently even used a separate department to develop technology for sports timekeeping. Junghans timed automobile races, world championships in skiing, rowing and athletics. A highlight was Junghans' participation in the 1972 Olympics in Munich. There, a revolutionary change in timekeeping took place when, for the first time in history, athletes were timed to the hundredth of a second thanks to the use of a quartz movement. This model is most reminiscent of timekeeping in automobile racing, which is reflected in the design of the dial and strap.
