The Baume & Mercier Baume Skate 10653 Aurélien Giraud Special Edition brings a minimalist design to the Baume range, characterised by its unusual and clean look. The model is a great choice when choosing an unconventional men's watch suitable for everyday use.
At first glance, the Baume range impresses with a distinctly different design within the brand. It builds on the avant-garde models the brand is historically associated with. Baume & Mercier Baume are a combination of creativity, comfort and the brand's concern for environmental protection. The line is characterised by 3 elements - a crown at the 12 o'clock position as a reminder of pocket watches, a strap attached to the moving parts for a more comfortable wearing and more comfort on the wrist, and straps without the classic system of stirrups, attached by buttons.
The model is a special edition created in collaboration with Aurélien Giraud, top French professional street skateboarder and world champion in this sporting discipline. Skateboarding has thus become the guiding idea behind the watch's design.
The Baume & Mercier Baume Skate M0A10653 Aurélien Giraud Special Edition is a very modern-looking piece, combining style and an alternative approach to watchmaking. The dark dial has a rough finish drawing inspiration from the skate grip. The time display is taken care of by the contrasting blue minute hand and disc. The dial bears all of Aurélien's favourite colours.
The movement is powered by a Swiss mechanical movement with a Sellita SW200 self-winding movement with a power reserve of around 38 hours. The movement, with a frequency of 28,800 semi-frequencies per hour, offers the possibility of a winding crown at 12 o'clock and a stop-seconds function when the time is set (hacking).
The unmistakable dial is protected by a high-scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. Sapphire has also been used for the caseback, through which the operation of the mechanical movement can be observed. The glass dial is decorated with the signature of Aurélien Giraud.
The watch case is a combination of aluminium and skateboard wood. It is complemented by a black cotton strap with interesting colourful details. It is attached to the case on movable aluminium feet by buttons. Changing the strap is thus very easy without tools.
The water resistance of this model is 30 m. The diameter of the case is 42 mm, so the watch fits perfectly on most men's wrists.
The Baume & Mercier Baume 10653 is a special edition that is bound to appeal to all avid skateboarders. It reflects B&M's approach of combining environmental responsibility and innovation, two key concepts in the brand's philosophy. The cases recycle material left over from skateboard manufacturing that would otherwise end up in the waste stream.
