The Swiss Mido Multifort TV Big Date M049.526.36.081.00 watch will win over its owners primarily with its unusual yet versatile design and precise craftsmanship. It’s a great companion for everyday wear, but it’s also suitable for formal occasions. This model was created in honor of a popular model from the year 2000. Like the current version, its shape resembles a television screen. However, the “TV-shaped” case first appeared at Mido in 1973 in the Multi Star line and again in 1980 in the Commander line.
The Mido M049.526.36.081.00 features a case made of 316L stainless steel with a PVD coating and is secured on the wrist by a leather strap. The package also includes an additional nylon strap. The straps feature quick-release pins, allowing for easy replacement without tools. Inside the case, the Swiss mechanical Caliber 80Big Date movement (based on the ETA C07.651) with automatic winding ticks reliably. It operates at a frequency of 21,600 half-vibrations per hour, features 25 jewels, and, most notably, offers an extended power reserve of 80 hours. The movement’s operation can be observed through the transparent case back. At the 12 o’clock position is a practical largedate display—the so-called Big Date.
The clear dial is protected by a sapphire crystal, which guarantees maximum scratch resistance.A double-sided anti-reflective coating ensures perfect readability even in bright sunlight. This model is water-resistant to 100 meters (10 bar), so it can handle even more extensive contact with water, such as swimming. The water resistance is reinforced by a screw-down crown.
