The Bulova Super Seville Precisionist 97B242 Year of the Horse is a limited edition created to celebrate the arrival of2026, known in the Chinese calendar asthe Year of the Horse. The watch’s design is inspired by the mythical winged horseQianli, a symbol of strength, courage, and beauty, which, according to legend, can travel up to 500 kilometers in a single day.
The most striking feature of the watch is the dial in the traditional Chinese colors of red and gold. Its center is adorned with a motif of a rearing horse surrounded by decorative floral elements, symbolizing wealth and prosperity. The gold elements also symbolize the prosperity and good fortune of the New Year, while the red background references the untamed strength and tenacity of the legendary Qianli horse. The result is a striking dial that gives the watch a distinctive character.
The unconventional dial is protected bya sapphire crystal with an internal anti-reflective coating. For better readability in low-light conditions, the hands and hour markers are luminescent.
The TV-shaped case draws inspiration from the legendary Bulova Super Seville Day Date models from the 1970s. It is dominated by a distinctive fluted bezel, which is one of the most recognizable features of the entire collection. It is made of steel with a gold IP finish. The case flows seamlessly into an integrated steel bracelet, which underscores the watch’s elegantly sporty character.
The watch’s caseback bears an individual limited edition number and a stylized Chinese character for the horse.
The watch is powered by a high-frequency quartz (HPQ - high-precision quartz) movement operating at a frequencyof 262 kHz—eight times higher than that of standard quartz movements (32,768 Hz). This ensures high accuracy. Another interesting feature is the smooth movement of the second hand, which is typical of mechanical movements, and greater resistance to temperature fluctuations. The movement features adate display at the 3 o’clock position. A magnifying lens (cyclops) ensures better readability.
The watch is water-resistant to 30 m, so it can handle normal contact with water while washing hands or in the rain. The TV-shaped case measures 38 mm, making the watch suitable for both men’s and women’s wrists.
The model is limited to just 888 pieces worldwide. In Chinese culture, the number 8 is traditionally associated with luck and prosperity.
The Bulova Super Seville Precisionist 97B242 Year of the Horse is not just another addition to the Super Seville collection.
