In 2023, the Vulcain brand reintroduced one of its most iconic dive watch models, the Skindiver Nautique, which left a distinctive mark on the watchmaking scene of the 1960s. But the story doesn't end there. Few people knew that at the same time, the manufacture from Le-Locle also developed a chronograph version of this tool watch. Hidden from the public for decades, it is now making a comeback thanks to the rediscovery efforts of Guillaume Laidet, who has overseen the development of the Vulcain collections since 2022. By bringing this watch back from the archives, Vulcain is offering collectors a model that is both authentic and technical, and a true tribute to the brand's heritage in exceptional diver's watches.
The Skindiver Chronograph stays true to the aesthetics of vintage dive watches while incorporating modern technical enhancements. Its 39.7mm stainless steel case with a vertically brushed surface ensures optimal durability while retaining a perfectly balanced feel on the wrist. Water resistant to 200 meters, it features a knurled bi-directional lunette with a black ceramic insert, paying homage to the original models from the 1960s.
The dial is equipped with legible indices coated with SuperLuminova, ensuring maximum visibility even in the harshest conditions. The watch is powered by the reliable and precise ETA 7753 automatic chronograph movement. This model is more than just a diver's watch, as it also features a decimal scale - a rare feature in watchmaking - which allows time measurement in hundredths of a minute, making calculations and data interpretation more practical for diving or sports timekeeping.
