Since its foundation in 1858, the Vulcain family business has been synonymous with complex complications. Founded by the Ditisheim brothers, skilled horologists, the brand quickly garnered acclaim in the Neuchâtel mountains - the heart of Swiss watchmaking precision - for its award-winning minute repeaters, grand and petite sonners and perpetual calendars.
The year 1947 marked a pivotal moment for Vulcain, when the world's first alarm wristwatch with a striking movement was launched: the Cricket, and became a signature for the Vulcain brand. With the sound of a very energetic and determined cricket, you no longer have to worry about falling asleep. A world innovation, the Vulcain cricket soon became very fashionable and earned the nickname "The President's Watch" because President Harry S. Truman and his successors - Eisenhower, Nixon and Johnson - also found it quite useful.
The Manufacture Vulcain V10 movement operates at 18,000 semi-frequencies per hour, with manual winding and a power reserve of 52 hours. The alarm length is approximately 20 seconds.
