Two Almaz stations—Salyut 3andSalyut 5—were successfully manned. Part of the program was the development ofTKS spacecraft, designed to transport cosmonauts and supplies to the Almaz stations; however, in the end, cosmonauts were transported to the stations by Soyuz spacecraft. The TKS spacecraft were only tested in unmanned mode; manned flights were canceled.
