Prim Orlík III: A Legend Reborn with a Handcrafted Heart
The PRIM Orlík III Night Watch L01P.18072.B represents the third generation of iconic diver’s watches, whose proud roots trace back to the original military model from 1965. This new release for 2026 introduces major innovations that bring this legendary design into the present day. Among the most notable are a highly durable ceramic bezel, improved luminescence, and a trio of captivating color options. These watches are made for those who know their stuff, and they offer complete freedom of choice—whether you prefer the version with a practical date display or favor a clean design showing only the time.
The redesigned 42-millimeter stainless steel case is now slightly lower and features shorter lugs. Thanks to this modification, the watch fits on the wrist even better and more naturally than you would expect from such a robust timepiece. Every facet, side, and top surface undergoes meticulous hand-polishing. This time-consuming process ensures perfectly sharp edges that refract light in a mesmerizing way. The case’s exclusivity is underscored by the “Orlík” inscription milled into the side, along with a laser-engraved serial number.
The screw-down crown, featuring the brand’s logo, securely maintains water resistance up to 200 meters. Paired with a durable rubber strap that is resistant to both water and sweat, the Orlík allows you to venture into the depths of the sea or attend business meetings with complete confidence.
The dial, featuring a concentric groove pattern—known as a “gramophone record”—gives the watch its unmistakable look. This unique texture adds depth to the surface, and with every movement of the wrist, light gracefully dances across it. Perfect readability under all conditions is ensured by a prominent layer of printed luminescent material forming raised numerals and triangular hour markers, complemented by precise, diamond-cut details hand-filled with luminous material.
You can choose from the classic black “Night Watch” variant, the dark red “Inferno” version inspired by the Czech tricolor, or the “Green Horizon” model, whose color gradient evokes the horizon of a landscape.
The entire dial is securely framed and protected by a brand-new ceramic bezel. Its exceptionally hard material easily withstands accidental impacts and scratches, retains its rich color for many years, and, thanks to the minute scale with a luminous marker, reliably measures the duration of your dive. Furthermore, the bezel’s new design paves the way for future developments and streamlines the manufacturing process.
Beneath the transparent sapphire crystal case back beats the heart of the watch— the in-house Prim 98.01 caliber. This mechanical self-winding movement is designed, decorated, assembled, and adjusted from the first to the last component in Nové Město nad Metují. It operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and, when fully wound, offers a power reserve of at least 40 hours.
For the Orlík III model, both the movement and the rotor have been given a luxurious black rhodium finish, which beautifully highlights the individual bridges, sharp edges, and overall architecture. This fascinating mechanical orchestra is crowned by a rotor featuring a milled pictogram of the Nové Město arches, which seamlessly harvests energy from your every natural movement.

The idea of producing Czechoslovak wristwatches first appeared immediately after the end of World War II. The effort of the management at that time was to limit the dependence on imports, especially from the western states of Europe. Wristwatches were not produced in Czechoslovakia before
In the fall of 1949, Adolf Martínek was entrusted with the task of building a new plant and preparing the serial production of wristwatches, who, in the unused building of the national committee in Nové Město nad Metují, together with the first 15 colleagues, embarked on a task that at the time was handled by only eight countries in the world.
Those interested bought the first Czechoslovak wristwatch in 1958. However, first it was necessary to choose the brand under which the wristwatch would be manufactured.
The PRIM brand was chosen, which at the time was also used for timepieces produced in other plants of the national company Chronotechna. Initially, an identical logo was used for the alarm clocks and wall clocks called the "loaf". Later, however, the graphic form was simplified to meet the requirements for modern dial design. The designer Josef Žid is the author of the so-called "standing" PRIM logo, which has been used on wristwatches since the 1970s. Until the 1990s, part of the designer's work was also the design of watches, which is why Josef Žid was entrusted with the design of the new brand. In addition, the need for a new graphic representation of the brand was supported by the fact that in 1969 the watch manufacturing plant in Nové Město nad Metují became completely independent and acquired the name it bears to this day - ELTON.
Until the 1990s, the New Town plant produced hundreds of thousands of wristwatches a year. However, after the so-called Velvet Revolution, watches from foreign brands began to flood Czechoslovakia - from luxury to the cheapest Asian ones. Interest in primkeys gradually declined and for a while it seemed that the production of Czech wristwatches no longer had a future.
Fortunately, it was possible to gradually revive interest in domestic products. Therefore, it was decided to convert the factory into small-scale production of the manufactory type. In 2008, the production of new mechanical movements began and ELTON hodinářská joined the ranks of important watch manufactures that rely on handwork, precision and an individual approach to the customer.
