Legendary. Iconic. An object of admiration and pride.
Watch.PRIM EAGLE. Since its inception, it has seen many similarities due to its popularity and excellence, we keep coming back to it. The special edition for 2024 is exceptional in many ways. It blends history with modern technology and materials. The timeless model has been given another dimension.
The iconic case has undergone a significant evolution, taking our designers almost a year and a half to create. Thanks to the shorter legs, the case fitseven better on the wrist, the strap has been brought closer to the case body, making the watch look more compact.
For the first time in history, the case is decorated with facets, which add to its attractiveness. Their precise design is further proof of the masterful handiwork of the Manufacture's employees. The hands have also been modified, based on the original shape but given a more modern look with a larger luminescent area.
The details of the edition are traditionally inspired by national symbols. The dark blue dial is enlivened by the distinctive blue luminescence on the indices and hands. In daylight, the colour of the indices is white. The number 24 on the date wreath refers to the year of the edition and is highlighted in red. All our national colours are thus interconnected on the dial.
The full cover, which conceals the Manufacture movement PRIM calibre 98.01 with automatic winding, is decorated with a depth-lasered large national emblem. The origin of the watch is indicated by the pictogram of the New Town arches on the crown.
The new case design will also make it easier to change the strap. The hand-stitched strap made of grey cowhide leather with tricolour details can be exchanged by the owner for the durable rubber included in the package. With a simple change, the watch adapts to a more formal or sporty style.
This year's anniversary model of the legendary Eagle has received a beautiful mid-market upgrade in the form of two new lunettes.
When ordering, customers can now choose the one that best suits their preferences.
The existing lunette was showcased by Prim at the watch's launch and was in a clean, uncolored design. The new lunettes are covered with HyCeram technology. Very precise, in every detail. One in blue, the other in black and our national colours.
The original PRIM ORLÍK watches were made for the Czechoslovak army. For its time it was an extraordinary watch in terms of technology and design. For the first time in the history of the New Town company, for example, it had a case made of stainless steel. The verification series was handed over to the army on 25 November 1965. The national company ELTON did not produce watches in this form for any other customer. It also contributed to the creation of a Czechoslovak watchmaking icon. Today, the Eagles are proudly worn on the wrist of actors such as Hynek Čermák and biathlete Michal Krčmář.

The idea of producing Czechoslovak wristwatches first appeared immediately after the end of World War II. The effort of the management at that time was to limit the dependence on imports, especially from the western states of Europe. Wristwatches were not produced in Czechoslovakia before
In the fall of 1949, Adolf Martínek was entrusted with the task of building a new plant and preparing the serial production of wristwatches, who, in the unused building of the national committee in Nové Město nad Metují, together with the first 15 colleagues, embarked on a task that at the time was handled by only eight countries in the world.
Those interested bought the first Czechoslovak wristwatch in 1958. However, first it was necessary to choose the brand under which the wristwatch would be manufactured.
The PRIM brand was chosen, which at the time was also used for timepieces produced in other plants of the national company Chronotechna. Initially, an identical logo was used for the alarm clocks and wall clocks called the "loaf". Later, however, the graphic form was simplified to meet the requirements for modern dial design. The designer Josef Žid is the author of the so-called "standing" PRIM logo, which has been used on wristwatches since the 1970s. Until the 1990s, part of the designer's work was also the design of watches, which is why Josef Žid was entrusted with the design of the new brand. In addition, the need for a new graphic representation of the brand was supported by the fact that in 1969 the watch manufacturing plant in Nové Město nad Metují became completely independent and acquired the name it bears to this day - ELTON.
Until the 1990s, the New Town plant produced hundreds of thousands of wristwatches a year. However, after the so-called Velvet Revolution, watches from foreign brands began to flood Czechoslovakia - from luxury to the cheapest Asian ones. Interest in primkeys gradually declined and for a while it seemed that the production of Czech wristwatches no longer had a future.
Fortunately, it was possible to gradually revive interest in domestic products. Therefore, it was decided to convert the factory into small-scale production of the manufactory type. In 2008, the production of new mechanical movements began and ELTON hodinářská joined the ranks of important watch manufactures that rely on handwork, precision and an individual approach to the customer.
