At first glance, the German Laco Mülheim an der Ruhr impresses with its typical pilot design, which is characterised by its cleanliness and excellent clarity, making it very popular not only among watch fans.

The models in the Laco Pilot Original series are a modern reworking of the observation watches from the 1940s. They are also called B-Uhr, from the German word Beobachtungsuhren. The watches of that time were distinguished by their large 55 mm diameter case and served the same purpose as navigation instruments. At the time of its creation, only a handful of companies were allowed to produce these military watches based on the requirements of the Reichsluftfahrtministerium (RLM) (former German Ministry of Aviation). Laco was one of the five manufacturers ( alongside IWC, Lange & Söhne, Stowa and Wempe) and contributed to the creation of a watch classic that became an inspiration for many other manufacturers. Laco with its Pilot Watches Original presents models produced according to the original blueprint.

Laco Mülheim an der Ruhr are based on the original pilot watches used during World War II. The sandblasted steel case of the Laco Flieger Original Mülheim an der Ruhr with straight legs is complemented by a brown leather strap with contrast stitching and distinctive rivets. The side of the case bears the "FL 23883" marking, which was the classification number and can also be found on the dial along with the unit number, manufacturer and movement designation. On historic models, this information was placed on the inside of the dagger. The water resistance of this watch is 100 m (10 ATM), so it can handle swimming. The diameter of the case is 39 mm, the length (lug-to-lug) is 46 mm, so the watch fits well on most men's wrists.

Classic hallmarks of the Laco Mülheim an der Ruhr pilot's watch include the distinctive and easy-to-read hands and indices at the hour positions, and the distinctive bulbous crown, which is easy to operate even with gloves. The perfectly clear A-type dial is protected by a highly scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The iconic dial is rendered without a logo, as on the original. The luminescence on the hands, numerals and indices ensures better legibility in low-light conditions. The watch hands are thermal blue.

The movement is powered by a Laco 210 mechanical movement with manual winding (based on the Sellita SW210 Elaboré - tested in 3 positions, accuracy +/- 14 s/day) with a power reserve of around 42 hours. The machine with a frequency of 28800 semi-frequencies per hour offers a function of stopping the seconds hand when setting the time (hacking).
