German Laco Friedrichshafen watches impress at first glance with their typical pilot design, which is characterized by cleanliness and great clarity, which makes them very popular not only among watch fans.

The models in the Laco Pilot Original series are a modern remake of the pilot and observer watches from the 1940s. They are also called B-Uhr, from the German word Beobachtungsuhren. The watches of that time were distinguished by their large 55 mm case and also served as navigational instruments. Laco was one of the five manufacturers (alongside IWC, Lange & Söhne, Stowa and Wempe) authorized to produce these military watches based on the requirements of the Reichsluftfahrtministerium (RLM) (former German Ministry of Aviation). Laco, with its Pilot Watches Original, presents models produced according to the original design and specification.

Laco Friedrichshafen are based on the original pilot watches used during World War II. The sandblasted steel case of the Laco Flieger Original Friedrichshafen with straight legs is complemented by a brown leather strap with contrast stitching and distinctive rivets. The side of the case bears the FL23883 marking, which was the classification number and can also be found on the dial along with the unit number, manufacturer and movement designation. On historic models, this information was placed on the inside of the dagger. The water resistance of this watch is 100 m (10 ATM), so it can handle swimming. The case diameter is 45 mm, the length (lug-to-lug) is 53.5 mm, so the watch fits well on most men's wrists.

The classic hallmarks of Laco Friedrichshafen pilot watches include distinctive and easy-to-read hands and indices at the hour positions, a large crown that is easy to operate even with gloves. The perfectly clear B-type dial is protected by a domed sapphire crystal with internal anti-reflective coating and high scratch resistance. The B-Uhr Type B dial features a minute scale printed around the perimeter of the dial, with an arrow at the 12 o'clock position for quick orientation for aviators and an hour scale printed on the inner circle. The iconic dial is rendered without the logo, as on the master. Better legibility in low light conditions is provided by luminescence placed on the hands, numerals and indices. The watch hands are thermal blue.

The movement is powered by a Laco 200 mechanical self-winding movement (based on the Sellita SW200 Elaboré - tested in 3 positions, accuracy +/- 14 s/day) with a power reserve of around 38 hours. The machine with a frequency of 28800 semi-frequencies per hour offers the possibility of crown winding and the function of stopping the seconds hand when setting the time (hacking).
