On November 6, 1929, the Junkers G38 took off for the first time in Dessau; it remains one of the most extraordinary aircraft in history. With a wingspan of over 44 meters and a wing area of approximately 305 square meters, it was one of the largest civilian land-based aircraft of its time.

Its design was revolutionary: the engines, fuel tanks, cargo compartments, and even the passenger cabins were integrated directly into the wings. Passengers sat partly in glass-enclosed sections of the wings with a forward view, while mechanics could perform engine maintenance from inside the wing directly during flight.

For economic reasons, only two examples were built, including the aircraft with registration number D-2000. To this day, this aircraft is considered a prime example of the visionary approach behind Junkers’ designs.

The Junkers Flieger D-2000 Chronograph 923.02.03features a stainless steel case housingaSwiss Ronda 8040battery-powered movement. It featuresa date display (known as a “big date”) at the 12 o’clock position, as well as a stopwatch with 1/20-second precision (the counter is at the 12 o’clock position). The sub-dial at the 9 o’clock position displays the stopwatch’s minute counter; the large seconds hand is also part of the stopwatch function; and at the 6 o’clock position, there is an off-center seconds hand. The pilot-style dial features bold hands that ensure excellent readability. The watch comes with a stylish leather strap.

This model is water-resistant to 50m (5 ATM), so it can handle basic contact with water such as rain or, at most, a shower. However, due to the leather strap, it’s best to avoid water entirely.

With acase diameter of42 mm, it fits most men’s wrists. The lug-to-lug measurement (the “height” of the watch, including the lugs) is 50 mm.
