The German Junghans 1972 Competition Chronoscope Automatic FIS Edition Trondheim 27/4507.00 from the Performance series revives the style of the 1970s in conjunction with modern technology. In the watch, we can find a reference to 1972, when Junghans was the official timekeeper of the Summer Olympics in Munich. This limited edition of just 150 pieces for the whole world refers to the 2025 Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim, Norway. Junghans is proud to be the official partner and timekeeper of this event for the fourth time in a row.
The Junghans 1972 Competition Chronoscope Automatic FIS Edition Lemon 27/4305.00 has a case made of stainless steel and is complemented by a leather strap. It is equipped with a mechanical movement J880.5 with automatic winding, which is based on the well-known Swiss variant of the Sellita SW510. The manufacturer incorporates it into the watch in an Elaboré finish with enhanced shock protection (Incabloc) and a tuned maximum daily deviation of +/- 14 seconds. This movement has a stopwatch function and also a useful date display at the 3 o'clock position. The power reserve is up to 48 hours. Around the perimeter of the dial we find a tachymetric scale, which is used to measure the average speed over a precisely defined distance.
The Junghans 27/4507.00 model has a dial protected by a sapphire crystal, which is extremely scratch-resistant. The double-sided anti-reflective coating ensures excellent legibility even in direct sunlight. With a water resistance of 100 metres (10 ATM), this model can withstand even greater contact with water, such as swimming.
This limited edition of just 150 pieces refers to the 2025 World Ski Championships. This will take place in Trondheim, Norway. As usual, cross-country skiing, ski jumping and Nordic combined will be on the programme. Junghans is the official timekeeper and proud partner of the event. The partnership with this event is taken very seriously by the Schramberg watch brand, as evidenced by the long-standing cooperation with ambassador Karl Geiger. This German ski jumping representative is a native of Oberstdorf and is the 2020 World Ski Jumping Champion in Planica, Slovenia. At the championships, he will therefore not only defend the colours of his country, but also of the traditional watchmaker Junghans. The first ever World Nordic Ski Championships has a Czech footprint, as it took place in Janské Lázně in 1925.
