The Swiss Fortis Pilot Classic Chronograph 904-21-41-LP watch impresses at first glance with its typical pilot design with a clear Fortis signature. Above all, it is decorated with perfect clarity. This watch will serve you well not only in the cockpit of an aircraft, but also in everyday wear.
The Fortis Pilot Classic Chronograph 904-21-41-LP has a case made of stainless steel, which is complemented by a leather strap. The Swiss ETA 2892-A2 mechanical movement with Dubois Depraz 2020 attachment (which provides the stopwatch function) works reliably in the case. It runs at a frequency of 28,800 half-beats per hour, while it also has a "hacking" function (stopping the second hand when ordered) and the possibility of manual winding by the crown. The stopwatch function can be used with the minutes counter at 12 o'clock and the hours counter at 6 o'clock. The operation of the movement can be observed through a transparent escapement.
The perfectly clear dial is protected by a sapphire crystal, which is extremely scratch-resistant. The anti-reflective coating ensures excellent legibility even in direct sunlight. The SuperLuminova luminescence on the hands and indexes enables legibility in darkness and low-light conditions. The water resistance of this model is 50m, so it can handle minor contact with water such as rain or showers.

The Swiss brand Fortis fully fulfills the meaning of its name, which means "strong" in Latin. It is synonymous with durability, robustness and reliability. Its purely mechanical watches serve professional pilots well, can be used underwater and have even served cosmonauts in space! In the years 1994-2019, Fortis watches were the official equipment of cosmonauts of the space agency Roskosmos. However, the foundations of Fortis' journey into space were already laid in 1961, when the founder's son Rolf Vogt showed the Fortis Spacematic AR (All Risks) watch to NASA astronauts. It was not until 1994 that the Official Cosmonauts Chronograph model looked into open space as part of the preparatory work for the historic connection of the American space shuttle Atlantis with the Russian MIR station.
Fortis is currently working with the Austrian Space Forum as the official timekeeper for the AMADEE Mars Mission simulation. From 2021, the Swedish Space Corporation became the official partner of Fortis in the testing and development of a purely space watch Fortis, where the stratospheric tests of the Werk 17 movement will be of particular interest.
The Fortis brand was founded in Grenchen, Switzerland in 1912 by Mr. Walter Vogt and, in addition to the already mentioned space successes, it has also achieved many other interesting milestones. In 1926, Fortis, in collaboration with the inventor of the first automatic movement, John Harwood, recorded the world's first serial production of a self-winding mechanical watch! Fortis introduced one of the world's first waterproof watches in 1940. Since 2018, its lifelong fan Jupp Philipp has become the owner of the Fortis brand.
