It is certainly not an original idea to create a limited edition watch for one of the most important statesmen in Czech and Czechoslovak history. We are not the first and we may not be the last. But we wanted to distinguish ourselves and create a watch that we like and are proud to sign.
The initial idea for the TGM limitka was conceived sometime in January 2024, and then it took about 10 months to take shape, so that we started working on the limitka in October 2024. It took more than a year and a half from the idea to the final realization. The choice of the brand was not easy, but in the end, after a lot of discussions, it actually came to us as a clear choice and "why did we think about it?" :) It is the Slovak Biatec, which is actually a logical follow-up to the very successful M. R. Štefánik.
The limited edition Biatec T. G. Masaryk is based on the Corsair model series and is powered by a Swiss mechanical movement with automatic winding Sellita SW200-1 Premium (Top). This 26-stone movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 semi-frequencies per hour (4Hz) and has a winding reserve of a classic 38 hours.
The watch case is made of stainless steel in a sandblasted finish. The distinctive feature of the watch is the large diamond-shaped crown with the Biatec logo, which is a reminder of the old days when pilots had to operate their watches even in thick leather gloves. An interesting feature is the design of the back cover, through the sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating we can observe the beautifully crafted rotor of the automatic movement.
The diameter of the case is a pleasant 40 mm, the length (lug-to-lug) is 48 mm, so the watch fits well on most men's wrists.
The clear cream-coloured dial, which features not only the indices but also Masaryk's portrait, is protected by a sapphire crystal that is extremely scratch-resistant. A double-sided anti-reflective coating ensures legibility in bright light. In darkness and reduced light conditions, the luminescence of Super-Luminova Old Radium on the hands and 3D indices is then at your service. The water resistance of this watch is 100 m (10 ATM), so it can handle contact with water such as showers, rain and swimming.
The watch refers to President Masaryk in several details. Perhaps the most prominent is the president's portrait on the watch face, as well as the monogram T.G.M. between 7 and 6 o'clock. Another element is the engraved quote on the watch face "A man can endure much if he has a goal", which can also be found on the box cover. The last reference to the presidency of Tomáš Garrique Masaryk is the stitching on the strap in the colours of the tricolour of our state.
We symbolically introduced the watch on the day of 19.9.2025, when the mysterious envelope from T.G.M. will be opened at 10:00 a.m. on this day, which is supposed to contain the last recorded words of Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk. In 1937, shortly before his death, the first Czechoslovak president reportedly dictated them to his son Jan. For 20 years, the envelope has been waiting in the National Archives to be opened on this day in front of the President of the Republic, Peter Paul, and the public. The envelope will be opened by TGM's great-great-grandson Tomáš Kotík. The event will be commented live by Radiožurnál. This year also marks the 175th anniversary of the birth and 88th anniversary of the death of the first Czechoslovak president, Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk.
The package of the watch includes a luxury wooden box with a cover, an accompanying leaflet that serves as a guide, as well as an introduction to the watch and the motivation behind its creation. In addition, you will also receive the book Conversations with T. G. Masaryk by the world-famous author Karel Čapek (new edition in a collector's edition from LEDA publishing house).
And last but not least, of course, this unique watch, which was produced in a limited edition of only 100 pieces.
