TheAlpina Startimer Pilot Chronograph IFR x Watch Angels Limited Edition AL-570NW4S46isa stunning timepiece, not just for aviation watch enthusiasts. Thanks to its features and design, it is particularly well-suited for pilots’ wrists, but also for aviation enthusiasts. What’s more, it is a limited edition of just 300 pieces worldwide. 

In collaboration with Watch Angels, Alpina is introducing a world first focused on one of the most critical phases of flight. For decades, pilot’s watches have paid homage to the world of aviation without actually helping pilots make decisions, but now the Startimer Pilot Chronograph Automatic IFR model is changing everything.

This watch introduces a new, fully mechanical watchmaking function designed with and for professional pilots. It allows them to immediately determine the holding courses for entering a holding pattern—a critical phase of every instrument approach (IFR—Instrument Flight Rules)—where precision, professionalism, and discipline are absolutely essential.

The stainless steel case houses a Swiss Sellita SW531b self-winding mechanical movement with 25 jewels, operating at a frequency of 28,800 half-vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and offers a power reserve of up to 62 hours. The movement also features a chronograph function with a 12-hour counter (at the 6 o’clock position), a 24-hour UTC hand with a yellow tip, and a running indicator in the form of a disc at the 9 o’clock position. The entire calculation and display system is located in the external parts of the watch—largely within the 44.5-mm ceramic bezel and on the inner flange.

The 43-mm case is water-resistant to10 ATM and is paired with a gray leather strap featuring a pin buckle. All edges of the case between the lugs and at the point where they meet the case are beveled (faceted); the lugs and the case itself feature a vertical satin finish, while the sides of the case are polished to a mirror finish.

The blue dial with a sunburst finish is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating. The applied hour markers are coated with Super-Luminova for better readability in low-light conditions.
