Men's Alexander Shorokhoff Equa AS.EQ01-1 watch belongs to the Avantgarde model series.
"La Mitad del Mundo" is a monument to the equator in San Antonio de Pichincha, Ecuador, north of the capital Quito, and marks the spot where Charles Marie de La Condamine and the French expedition in 1736 were the first Europeans to determine the exact position of the equator. The place where the globe divides into two halves.
This special place so intrigued A. Shorokhov during his visit to Ecuador that he dedicated a model of the Equa to it. The division of the globe into two halves, north and south, is symbolically represented by the choice of colours on the watch dial. One half is marked with a warm, almost bright orange colour, and the other with a soft blue, reminiscent of the day and night of Ecuador. In the middle is the ocean washing the equator. The white shimmering water in the daytime sun is represented by white natural mother-of-pearl and the mysterious shimmer of the night ocean is represented by black mother-of-pearl.
The case of the Equa AS.EQ01-1 is made of stainless steel. Inside is a mechanical movement with manual winding 2423.AS. The individual parts are hand-finished and engraved. The movement is set with 17 ruby stones and has a power reserve of 38 hours. Its operation can be observed thanks to a transparent sapphire crystal dial. A handy date indicator is located at the 6 position. Equinox at the equator, the symbol of the beginning of spring and autumn, is artistically represented by two semicircles on the dial, each representing 12 hours. The dial is thus in 24-hour format. All protected by a sapphire crystal.
The water resistance of this model is set at 5 ATM, so the watch can come into contact with splashing water, for example, when washing hands or taking a shower. The watch comes with a leather strap.
The manufacturer reserves the right to change the colour of the strap. The straps are hand-stitched and it may happen that leather of a given colour is no longer available.

Alexander Shorokhoff is a German company producing mechanical watches with a highly artistic design. The founder of the brand is Mr. Alexander Shorokhov, who was sent to Germany in 1991 as one of the best managers to further his education in his field. Within one year, he established a trading company for the most important Russian watch brand Poljot here with the aim of enabling the commercialization of this brand in all European countries. In 1994, he started his own business with his first own watch brand, Poljot-International.
However, in order to fulfill his great ambition to produce high-quality watches independently, in 2003 he founded the watch company Alexander Shorokhoff under his own name, based in the town of Alzenau in the heart of Bavaria. The two letters "f" at the end of the company's name are a reference to its Russian roots and the historical background of the brand.
Alexander Shorokhov is a world citizen. He travels the world and draws inspiration from the many countries and cultures he visits. But it draws the most from its roots, which stem from a rich and thousand-year artistic and cultural history. These aspects combined with German precision lead to an unusual individual watch design, combined with great commitment, excellent quality and the highest possible precision.
