Seiko "Arnie" SNJ025P1 watch is an anticipated new release in 2019 from the Prospex line. It is a novelty following the success of the diving models, a reproduction of the Seiko H558-5009 diving watch from the 1980s, which was the first diving watch with a combined dial (analogue and digital), equipped with an alarm and stopwatch.
Reminiscent of the Seiko H558 series, the Seiko SNJ025P1, also nicknamed the Arnie, is one of the diving watches that has become an iconic model within the brand, primarily due to its association with Arnold Schwarzenegger, as well as its features, its proven case shape and, last but not least, its superb craftsmanship. They earned their nickname thanks to their appearance in the American films Commando (Commando, 1985) and Predator (Predator, 1987), where they could be seen on the wrists of actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who played the main roles, Colonel Matrix and Major Allan Schaefer, called Dutch. The watch participated in expeditions to the North and South Poles, as well as the 1988 ascent of Everest by an international group of explorers.
The Seiko SNJ025P1 is powered by a solar-powered H851 movement, equipped with alarm, dual time, stopwatch and automatic calendar functions. The model features an unusual (but typical for Seiko) design. A protective wreath made of hardened plastic, called a shroud, is mounted on the round steel case, protecting the black rotating lunette (with a scale for easy measurement of dive time) and the watch body itself. Its design allows flawless operation of the lunette. In addition, the watch also has a screw-down crown and a ding. The case is suitably complemented by a black silicone strap. The clear and easy-to-read combination dial is protected by a Hardlex (hardened mineral) glass. Excellent luminescence and LED illumination ensure better legibility during low-light conditions. With a case size of 47.8 mm, the watch has a water resistance of 200 m.
