The limited edition Zikmund and Hanzelka pays tribute to our most famous travelling duo, who were a true phenomenon not only in their time. Their books transported readers to distant landscapes, to places they often could not even name. Their adventures enchanted, surprised and enticed.
This watch is a tribute to adventurous travellers and explorers. We have created it for those who will not shy away from any obstacle and will face any challenge. The legacy of Miroslav Zikmund and Jiří Hanzelka permeates every detail of the sophisticated design.
The Z&H initials can be found not only on the crown, but also on the hands. When overlaid at 12 o'clock, the letters appear directly above each other. The famous pair are thus symbolically reunited.
Another inspiration for the new watch were the two famous Tatra 805 cars. Jiří Hanzelka's father was a test driver for Tatra, so it is not surprising that this legendary brand accompanied them on their travels. Thanks to the cooperation with Tatra Kopřivnice, the back cover of the watch tells thewhole story of the second journey. The names of the travellers appear here in the company of their cars against the backdrop of the mountains they successfully climbed on their journey. The names of the most important towns and countries visited are deflated around them.
The dial is adorned with large and distinctive numerals and luminescenceensures excellent legibilityand orientation even in the dark. The grooves on the lunette refer to the shape of the steering wheel in the T 805. The lunette carries a compass, without which travelling at that time could perhaps not have been done without. Simply rotate the lunette and set the watch towards the sun to adjust north or south depending on which hemisphere you are in. Today, the compass lunette serves more as a design and orientation element; modern travelers have much more sophisticated equipment.
For this limited edition, we have created a brand new case, fitted with an in-house mechanical movement, the PRIM calibre 93.00. The hand-wound movement, as well as the hand-stitched belt with backing, refers to the time when Jiri Hanzelka and Miroslav Zikmund made their incredible journey.
Great care has also been taken with the packaging of this unique edition. The leather travel folder, created together with the watch strap by the satchel maker Pavel Matouš, contains a notebook made of handmade paper from Velké Losiny, a cloth with a pictogram for cleaning the watch and a fountain pen from the Wood-Factory made of Zebrano material, which bears the same number as the watch. The package also contains a spare strap made of rubber, a weight extractor When you open the watch case, you will be enchanted not only by the smell of leather. We believe you will also smell the scent of adventure.

The idea of producing Czechoslovak wristwatches first appeared immediately after the end of World War II. The effort of the management at that time was to limit the dependence on imports, especially from the western states of Europe. Wristwatches were not produced in Czechoslovakia before
In the fall of 1949, Adolf Martínek was entrusted with the task of building a new plant and preparing the serial production of wristwatches, who, in the unused building of the national committee in Nové Město nad Metují, together with the first 15 colleagues, embarked on a task that at the time was handled by only eight countries in the world.
Those interested bought the first Czechoslovak wristwatch in 1958. However, first it was necessary to choose the brand under which the wristwatch would be manufactured.
The PRIM brand was chosen, which at the time was also used for timepieces produced in other plants of the national company Chronotechna. Initially, an identical logo was used for the alarm clocks and wall clocks called the "loaf". Later, however, the graphic form was simplified to meet the requirements for modern dial design. The designer Josef Žid is the author of the so-called "standing" PRIM logo, which has been used on wristwatches since the 1970s. Until the 1990s, part of the designer's work was also the design of watches, which is why Josef Žid was entrusted with the design of the new brand. In addition, the need for a new graphic representation of the brand was supported by the fact that in 1969 the watch manufacturing plant in Nové Město nad Metují became completely independent and acquired the name it bears to this day - ELTON.
Until the 1990s, the New Town plant produced hundreds of thousands of wristwatches a year. However, after the so-called Velvet Revolution, watches from foreign brands began to flood Czechoslovakia - from luxury to the cheapest Asian ones. Interest in primkeys gradually declined and for a while it seemed that the production of Czech wristwatches no longer had a future.
Fortunately, it was possible to gradually revive interest in domestic products. Therefore, it was decided to convert the factory into small-scale production of the manufactory type. In 2008, the production of new mechanical movements began and ELTON hodinářská joined the ranks of important watch manufactures that rely on handwork, precision and an individual approach to the customer.
