The limited edition PRIM Antonín Mánes watch is designed for those who appreciate not only aesthetic value, but also functionality and deeper meaning. This watch will not only complement you tastefully, but also pay tribute to an important historical figure and his legacy.
If you are looking for a watch that combines elegance with a passion for art and history, the PRIM Antonín Mánes will be the ideal choice. It is dedicated to a personality who left an indelible mark on Czech culture.
The dial with its vertical linear cut is interesting for its ability to reflect light, always creating original shades of colour.
The watches are made in a total of 240 pieces - 48 of each version and are individually numbered.
To celebrate the 240th anniversary of Antonin Manes' birth, our design team has created a watch that celebrates the aesthetics of his time. The entire collection emphasises a simple, classic and timeless look, using natural tones in the dial finish - hues that can be found directly in Mánes' work. The design evokes the charm of a bygone era - from the brushed dial, gilded accessories, elegant leaf-shaped hands worked to a high gloss, to the rounded, perfectly polished lunette.
Other unmistakable elements are the edge-moulded dial with vertical linear cut and the applied indices in gold and polished finish. Also worth mentioning is the detailed seconds hand, which follows the curved shape of the dial at the end. The case has been specially adapted for this model and is made of 316L stainless steel with a water resistance of 5 ATM and features a combination of polished and brushed elements. The watch features a slightly domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment.
The watch is powered by a Japanese Miyota 9039 movement. It is an automatic movement with a manual winding option, it operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a winding power reserve of up to 42 hours. The machine contains a total of 21 stones to reduce friction and wear, which is the standard number for automatic machines in this category. The Miyota 9039 is designed without a data function. This means that the dial does not have a date display window, which corresponds with the minimalist design of the watch. The accuracy rate is typically in the range of -20 to +40 seconds per day. The Miyota 9039 is known for its durability and reliability, which makes it an ideal choice for everyday wear, while the widespread availability of spare parts and services makes maintenance of this watch relatively easy.
Special attention should also be paid to the watch's cap, which we have again conceived in an unconventional way for this model, by applying one of Antonín Mánes' landscape paintings entitled Landscape in a Storm.
This painting is considered to be one of his key works, depicting the power and drama of nature in a romantic spirit. This painting depicts a landscape just before or during a storm, capturing a powerful atmosphere supported by dark, storm clouds, violent winds and an unsettling mood. The scene is in a melancholic vein, typical of Romanticism, where nature acts as a dominant and powerful force, often combined with a sense of awe and fear at the same time. The dark and saturated colours create a contrast between light and dark, heightening the tension before the storm. The figure of the peasant in the painting gives a small impression in contrast to the massiveness of the nature that surrounds it, which in Mánes' work serves as a scale to express the massiveness of the natural element and also adds a narrative element to the painting that emphasizes the human reaction to the forces of nature - fear, awe or smallness in the face of the storm.

Execution
The overall impression of the watch is enhanced by the choice of a handmade and carefully stitched strap made from premium cowhide leather. The strap features quick-release masts for easy replacement and is complemented by a distinctive, polished stainless steel buckle with a precision engraved PRIM logo.

The idea of producing Czechoslovak wristwatches first appeared immediately after the end of World War II. The effort of the management at that time was to limit the dependence on imports, especially from the western states of Europe. Wristwatches were not produced in Czechoslovakia before
In the fall of 1949, Adolf Martínek was entrusted with the task of building a new plant and preparing the serial production of wristwatches, who, in the unused building of the national committee in Nové Město nad Metují, together with the first 15 colleagues, embarked on a task that at the time was handled by only eight countries in the world.
Those interested bought the first Czechoslovak wristwatch in 1958. However, first it was necessary to choose the brand under which the wristwatch would be manufactured.
The PRIM brand was chosen, which at the time was also used for timepieces produced in other plants of the national company Chronotechna. Initially, an identical logo was used for the alarm clocks and wall clocks called the "loaf". Later, however, the graphic form was simplified to meet the requirements for modern dial design. The designer Josef Žid is the author of the so-called "standing" PRIM logo, which has been used on wristwatches since the 1970s. Until the 1990s, part of the designer's work was also the design of watches, which is why Josef Žid was entrusted with the design of the new brand. In addition, the need for a new graphic representation of the brand was supported by the fact that in 1969 the watch manufacturing plant in Nové Město nad Metují became completely independent and acquired the name it bears to this day - ELTON.
Until the 1990s, the New Town plant produced hundreds of thousands of wristwatches a year. However, after the so-called Velvet Revolution, watches from foreign brands began to flood Czechoslovakia - from luxury to the cheapest Asian ones. Interest in primkeys gradually declined and for a while it seemed that the production of Czech wristwatches no longer had a future.
Fortunately, it was possible to gradually revive interest in domestic products. Therefore, it was decided to convert the factory into small-scale production of the manufactory type. In 2008, the production of new mechanical movements began and ELTON hodinářská joined the ranks of important watch manufactures that rely on handwork, precision and an individual approach to the customer.
