The Antarctic GMT is a tribute to the rich heritage of professional watchmaking by Nivada Grenchen. Originally introduced during the Jet Age, when frequent travelers required precise time zone tracking, the Antarctic GMT has been redesigned for modern adventurers. This retro-styled masterpiece pays homage to its 1970s roots while offering the contemporary functionality of the Swiss-made SOPROD C125 movement.
With a diameter of 36 mm, a slim 11.1 mm profile with glass and a perfectly balanced weight, it is the ideal companion for crossing time zones in style. In terms of design, the new Antarctic GMT is a faithful homage to the original. The iconic red and black GMT hand remains, but now features a Plexiglas insert on the inner bezel for tracking the second time zone. The matte black dial, which contrasts with the amber-tinted 24-hour lunette, immediately catches the eye, while the thick Plexiglas glass enhances the retro appeal of the watch and prevents distortion that is common with too thick sapphire crystal. At its heart is the Swiss-made SOPROD GMT movement.
