Cuervo y Sobrinos Robusto Churchill GMT 1895 is a new addition to the Churchill collection in the Robusto model series. It celebrates the life of the British statesman who visited Cuba more than once and showed his affection for the Caribbean island. This new model shares many of the features found on previous versions of this popular model, but additionally includes an enlarged date display and a dual time function.
Founded in Havana in 1882, Cuervo y Sobrinos pays tribute to the British statesman with the release of the new Churchill 1895 GMT, which is ideal for the intrepid traveller. This dual time model is elegant and sporty at the same time. The model is available in two dial colours, blue or silver, each of which is limited to 200 pieces.
Sir Winston Churchill was an avid traveller. There are many hotels all over the world that claim to have housed this famous British statesman. Once, as a bored young army officer looking for adventure, Churchill went to Cuba to observe the 1895 war first hand. The Caribbean island was in the midst of war and fighting for independence from Spain. Churchill settled in Arroyo Blanco, a small village in Sancti Spiritus, which proved to be an ideal place to observe the development of the conflict.
The case of the Cuervo y Sobrinos Robusto Churchill GMT 1895 2811.1GMTA is made from a combination of stainless steel and titanium. Inside is a Swiss mechanical movement with automatic winding, the CYS 8122 (based on the Soprod C125), which runs at 28,800 A/h, is set with 25 jewels and boasts a power reserve of 42 hours. The movement's operation can be observed thanks to the transparent dial, which is adorned with Churchill's signature.
The clear dial is finished in a silver shade. It is tastefully complemented by gold hands and a combination of gold numerals and indices. A handy date indicator, highlighted by a magnifying glass (the so-called Cyclops), is located at the traditional position 3. As the name suggests, this model has a GMT function displayed by a fourth hand with an arrow. Everything is protected by a sapphire crystal with an internal anti-reflective coating.
With a case diameter of 43 mm, the Cuervo y Sobrinos Robusto Churchill GMT 1895 fits most men's wrists. It is complemented by a colour-matching leather strap. The water resistance of this model is set at 10 ATM, so the watch does not need to be removed even if swimming. A total of 200 pieces were produced in the limited edition, each model is individually numbered.
