The Cuervo y Sobrinos brand pays tribute to its long-standing and loyal customer Ernest Hemingway, the famous writer and legend of the 20th century, and launches a new collection of three watches entirely dedicated to the writer, following on from the acclaimed first limited edition series which was a great success.

Hemingway spent more than 20 years in Cuba and fell deeply in love with the country for its Latin American identity, which is the basis of the Cuervo y Sobrinos watches. During his time in Cuba, the literary genius often visited the Cuervo y Sobrinos boutique. Now the watch brand known for its Latin American soul has decided to honour the American writer, a long-time and loyal customer of the company, with a new series of watches produced in collaboration with Hemingway Limited.

Under the patronage of John Hemingway, the writer's grandson, the watch collection was launched in Key West, Florida, on the occasion of Hemingway Days 2023. These annual celebrations pay tribute to the Nobel Prize in Literature winner and are a reminder of how he enjoyed his stay and life on this island. For the first model, the creative team at Cuervo y Sobrinos chose shades inspired by history, such as soft cream and tobacco tones, colours that certainly surrounded Hemingway during his time in Cuba.

The inspiration for "The Fisherman" is certainly linked to one of Hemingway's loves: his endless love of the sea; in fact, this model is meant to be a tribute to the book The Old Man and the Sea. This novel by the American author was written in Cayo Blanco (Cuba) and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1953.

The case of the Cuervo y Sobrinos Historiador Hemingway GMT The Fisherman 3192B.1B is made of stainless steel. Inside is a Swiss mechanical movement with automatic winding CYS 8122 (based on the Soprod C125). It runs at 28,800 A/h, is set with 25 jewels and boasts a power reserve of 42 hours. The oscillating weight with engraving is also an interesting detail. We can enjoy the movement's operation thanks to the transparent dial.

The transparent dial is finished in a shade of blue. The distinctive numerals and hands are coated with Superluminova luminescent coating. On the inside of the case we can find an engraving that includes the writer's quote"Every day is a new day, it is better to be lucky" in English (at 12 o'clock) and Spanish (at 6 o'clock). All protected by a double rounded sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment.

With a case diameter of 40 mm, the Cuervo y Sobrinos Historiador Hemingway Icónico 3190.1ICB fits most men's wrists. Complemented by a steel strap, a blue textile strap is also included. The water resistance is set at 10 ATM, so the watch will be a great companion even during fishing. The limited edition is produced in a total of 288 pieces.
