Asturias is a principality in northwestern Spain. The Industrial Revolution hit the region around 1830. The region was heavily dependent on coal mining and iron production. However, many residents dreamed of a new life and decided to emigrate to the Americas, including Argentina, Uruguay, Puerto Rico, Mexico and especially Cuba.
Historiador Asturias is a celebration of Don Ramon Cuervo, the founder of the company, his nephews and the many citizens of Asturias who decided to make Cuba their home. Together, these people have enriched Cuban society and helped make it what it is today.
The case of the Cuervo y Sobrinos Historiador Asturias 3101.1ASV is made of stainless steel. Inside is a Swiss mechanical movement with automatic winding CYS 5124 (the base is La Joux-Perret G100). It runs at 28800 A/h, is fitted with 24 jewels and boasts a power reserve of 68 hours. The oscillating weight with engraving is also an interesting detail. The movement's operation can be enjoyed thanks to a transparent sapphire crystal dial.
The clear, elegant dial is finished in a shade of green. At the 6 position is the date indicator, unconventionally displayed on a black background. All protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment.
With a case diameter of 40 mm, the Cuervo y Sobrinos Historiador Asturias 3101.1ASV fits most men's wrists. It is complemented by a Cordoban leather strap. Water resistance is set at 5 ATM, so the watch can handle light contact with water, for example when washing hands.
