The Cuervo y Sobrinos brand pays tribute to Francisco 'Pipin' Ferreras, the Cuban freediving legend, by releasing the latest Buceador Caribe Pipin in his honour. Designed in an eye-catching combination of blue, red and white hues, this new diver's watch is optimally designed for underwater use and encourages its wearer to dive into the world of extremes.

In 2021, Cuervo y Sobrinos announced a partnership with world record holder Francisco "Pipino" Ferreras. Pipin was born in Matanzas, Cuba and developed a passion for spearfishing at a young age, diving deeper and deeper with each passing year. Sometimes referred to as the "human fish", Pipin is probably best known for "No-Limits" freediving, the discipline in which he first became famous. In November 1989, he set the first world record for no-limits freediving when he dove to a depth of 112 metres. It is an esoteric sport that is worth pausing for a moment to imagine life in this underwater world, an underwater universe that Pipin knows well.

After 35 years, on 11 August 2024, Pipin intends to attempt his own record when, at the age of 62, he dives to a depth of 112 metres in Cuban waters off the coast of Trinidad!

Optimally designed to be readable both underwater and on land, the Buceador Caribe Pipin features a pure white dial with blue and red accents, a reference to the Cuban flag. The white indices are highlighted in blue, while the minute hand, the most important underwater indication, is highlighted with a bright red border. The hands and indices are coated with Super-LumiNova® luminescent coating.

Housed in a highly complex 43 mm steel case with container construction, this diving watch is water resistant to 200 m. An ingenious push-button system, located at 4 o'clock, unlocks the crown at 2 o'clock. The crown, again done in red, is used to set the inner rotating lunette, which allows the wearer to keep track of the dive time. Another crown, located at 9 o'clock, is used to set the indications and also to wind the mainspring. The Buceador Caribe Pipin watch comes on a white high-gloss rubber strap, and also includes a blue leather strap.

The Buceador Caribe Pipin is limited to 171 pieces, a reference to Pipin's last world record in the No-Limits discipline, which was 171 metres (560 feet) in November 2003. At the time, he refused to go deeper because he only wanted to match his late wife's (Audrey Mestre) last and deepest dive, in honor of her memory.
