Bulova Surfboard Chronograph 98A252 watch first and foremost catches the eye with its reference to the 1970s, when the original Bulova Chronograph A "Surfboard" models saw the light of day and gained admiration and attention thanks to its easily recognizable appearance.
The Archive Series, aiming to commemorate the iconic Bulova models that have made history with their designs, use, etc., after the highly successful Bulova Lunar Pilot, Devil Diver, Computron and Joseph Bulova, comes the Sports Chronograph, which became the 70s chronograph. In the 1970s, it became very popular and was nicknamed the "Surfboard" due to its typical oval coloured field containing the registers. The original Bulova Chronograph A "Surfboard" models with mechanical movements were the model for today's reissues, offering these classics in new colourways.
The steel case of the watch is complemented by a silicone strap. In addition to the time function, the model is equipped with stopwatches whose operation is displayed by a clear sub-dial at the 9 o'clock position - a minute counter and a distinctive central seconds hand measuring the elapsed seconds. The stopwatch can be controlled by side buttons - the upper stopwatch starts and stops, the lower stopwatch resets the measured values. The sporty style is completed by a tachymetric scale around the dial and a red lunette with minute markers. The two-tone dial is protected by a sapphire crystal. The hands, indices and zero point on the lunette are equipped with a luminescent spring. The watch is powered by a Miyota 6S21-00A battery movement. The diameter of the case has grown to 40.5mm compared to the predecessor, making the watch fit most men's wrists. The watch's water resistance of 200 m is supported by a screw-down dongle and crown, so there is no need to put the watch away when showering or swimming.
