The Bulova Mil-Ships 98A266 watch is a reference to the brand's collaboration with the US Army and the historic Bulova MIL-SHIPS-W-2181 model, which was developed specifically for military use and deployment in action.
The Archive Series, aiming to commemorate the iconic Bulova models that have made history with their designs and use, following the highly successful Bulova Lunar Pilot, Devil Diver, Computron, Joseph Bulova and Accutron, comes a diving watch that has made its design fully subordinate to function. The Bulova Mil-Ships 98A266 is reminiscent of the Bulova MIL-SHIPS-W-2181 from 1958, which was created at the request of the US Army. Several models were delivered to the Army during 1958 and 1959 for testing by NEDU and UDT21 units. However, production of the watches was soon discontinued as Bulova concentrated on developing the Accutron.
The new model takes over the features of the 1950s model. A stripe is placed on the watch dial to indicate if moisture has entered the watch, in which case it changes colour. Another unique feature of this watch is the lunette function, it can only be rotated when pressed. The steel case of the watch is complemented by a grey textile NATO strap. The watch is powered by a mechanical movement with automatic winding Miyota 82S0.
The dial, which does not deny the original, is protected by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, excels in excellent legibility and easy clarity, which is required for diving watches. The 41 mm case diameter makes the watch wearable on most men's wrists. The water resistance of the watch is 200 m. A special embossed dial indicates the destination of the watch.
The watch will be delivered in special packaging, which will include a commemorative plaque.
