The Bulova Lunar Pilot Chronograph 98A285 50th Anniversary Limited Edition is a limited edition model introduced to commemorate the 50 years that have passed since the Bulova Chronograph rested on the moon. In 1971, astronaut David Scott used his own Bulova Chronograph watch on the Apollo 15 mission. This was after the glass on his Omega watch, originally chosen for the US space programme, broke. Since the matter came to light, the watch has been rechristened the "Bulova Moonwatch."
The case of the Bulova Lunar Pilot Chronograph 98A285 50th Anniversary Limited Edition is made of grade 5 titanium with a PVD finish, and its design is based on the legendary Bulova Chronograph used by astronaut Scott on the Apollo 15 mission. The black colour of the case and dial is complemented by the golden elements of the stopwatch registers, their pushers, the crown and the dial. The special embossed dagger refers to the space mission and emphasizes the historical success of the brand.
The watch is powered by an unusual and UHF (Ultra High Frequency) quartz movement, operating at a frequency of 262 kHz. This is roughly 8 times higher than conventional quartz movements (32768 Hz). This makes it possible to achieve extreme running accuracy with a deviation of approximately 10s per year! This movement also offers a stopwatch function, the interesting feature of which is the smooth running central seconds hand.
The perfectly clear and interestingly designed dial is protected by a sapphire glass with an anti-reflective coating, ensuring high durability and excellent legibility. The watch comes on a comfortable black leather NATO strap. The water resistance of the model is 50 m.
The watch will be delivered in special packaging, which will include a commemorative coin and a brochure. The limited edition is limited to 5000 pieces worldwide.
