Pilot watches are an extra strong point of the Swiss brand Fortis. As early as 1929, British journalist Grace Drummond-Hay took a Fortis Harwood watch on a round-the-world trip on Zeppelin LZ 127. It was the first ever round-the-world flight of an automatic watch. In 1995, Fortis watches were part of the flight in which Alexandre Paringaux reached a height of 30,540 m in a Mig-25 PU, setting a world record in the civil sphere. Today, Fortis watches are popular with many professional pilots and are also the official timepieces of the following organizations and aviation groups, among others:
Swiss Air Force PC-7 team
Swiss Air Force 11 Fighter Squadron
Aerobatic pilot Castor Fantoba
Yakitalia
Air Glaciers
Thunder Mustang Air Racing Team
Sennair
NATO Tigers
NATO Awacs
Hungarian Air Forces
German Army reconnaissance squadron ‘Immelmann 51’
